Wildlife engraving · La Riviera, California

The animal is cut out of the stone.

We laser-engrave wildlife into glazed ceramic, slate, limestone, and hardwood — burning away the surface to reveal the white beneath. No ink, no transfer. Every line is depth.

Four glazed ceramic tiles engraved with a manta ray, lobster, nautilus, and cuttlefish in Bali Blue and Turquoise Reef
Plate I Ocean series — Bali Blue & Turquoise Reef glaze, 4″ ceramic

How a piece is made

Three passes, start to shelf

The order matters — the artwork has to be built before the laser ever fires.

Pass 01 — Design

Composed for the cut

Not every image survives engraving. Each design is built for hard contrast and clean separation, then checked against the real animal — the proportions, the posture, the details that make a species itself instead of generic.

Pass 02 — Engrave

Glaze removed, not added

The laser ablates the fired glaze layer, exposing the pale body of the tile. Depth becomes tone: heavier passes read brighter, lighter passes hold the blue.

Pass 03 — Frame

Oak, walnut, or a stand

Pieces ship framed in hand-stained oak or walnut, or with a laser-cut easel stand for shelf display. Every order ships free.
