Tile & stone

Nothing is added. Only taken away.

The tile arrives already finished — we do not color or coat anything. What we do is cut into that finished surface with the laser, down to the pale body underneath, and the image is whatever the cut reveals.

  • Bali Blue and Turquoise Reef are the two we work with most
  • Slate and limestone behave differently again — cooler, more granular
  • Depth is tone: a heavier pass reads brighter, a lighter pass holds the color
  • Some pieces are framed in stained oak or walnut, or paired with a cut stand

Why it looks like that

A subtractive process

There is no ink and no transfer involved at any stage.

One

The surface does the work

Because the image is cut rather than printed, it cannot peel, fade or wear off. It is the same depth as the tile itself.

Two

Every tile is slightly different

The mottling in the finish varies piece to piece, so the same design on two tiles will never read exactly the same way.

Three

Built to live somewhere

These are tiles. They can go on a stand, in a frame, or into a wall as part of a backsplash or a set.
